East Alligator (Erre) region – Update on closures

The closure advice for the East Alligator (Erre) region following the recent passing of senior Murrwan-Uringangk Traditional Owner Na-gangila Banggalang has been revised.

At the request of the Traditional Owners of the East Alligator (Erre) region, the Oenpelli Road, including Cahills Crossing and the upstream and downstream boat ramps have now reopened.

Access will remain closed to Ubirr, Merl campground and all walks in the area, including Manngarre Rainforest, Bardedjilidji walk, and River and Sandstone (Badbong Wodjmeng) walks, until further notice.

The Director of National Parks and Kakadu National Park staff extend their heartfelt condolences to the friends and family of this very important man at this time of great sadness.
