East Alligator region and seasonal closures update
Kakadu National Park has reopened a number of visitor sites in the East Alligator (Erre) region following temporary closures caused by recent cyclone activity.
Visitors can again access Ubirr rock art site, the Cahills Crossing viewing platform — please note Cahills Crossing remains closed — Merl Campground and the upstream and downstream boat ramps.
Park staff have completed safety inspections to ensure the areas are safe for public access.
Additionally, from today, the following areas are now closed for the season:
- Jim Jim Billabong boat ramp
- Jim Jim Billabong (Djim Djim Anlabbarl) campground
- Anbangbang Billabong
- The Bardedjilidji walk
Seasonal closures are a routine part of park management, reflecting changing weather conditions and the need to protect sensitive ecosystems during the wet season.
Visitors can stay up to date with access information from the Kakadu Access Report.
