Karnamarr Campground switches to solar power
Visitors to Kakadu National Park’s Jim Jim District can now enjoy a more sustainable stay at Karnamarr Campground, thanks to the installation of a new cogeneration solar system.
The upgrade replaces the old diesel generator with ground-mounted solar panels and battery storage, delivering reliable renewable energy to power both the campground and its water pumps.
Perched on the edge of the Arnhem Land escarpment, Karnamarr is a popular base for exploring the spectacular Jim Jim and Twin Falls. With the new solar system in place, visitors can experience this breathtaking part of the park while knowing their stay is being powered by clean, green energy.
