Karrimanjbekkan An-me Kakadu: Taste of Kakadu a finalist in the Brolga Awards
Karrimanjbekkan An-me Kakadu: Taste of Kakadu 2025, Kakadu National Park’s signature food and culture festival, has been recognised as a finalist in the Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards – Festivals and Events category.
The Brolga Northern Territory Tourism Awards are the official tourism awards program for the Northern Territory, celebrating excellence and achievement across the visitor economy. The Festivals and Events category recognises festivals and events that raise the profile of their destination, attract visitors and create positive community impact.
The festival celebrates Bininj/Mungguy culture, Country and community through bush-tucker dining experiences, hands-on cultural workshops, guided tours on Country, and performances led by Traditional Owners and Aboriginal artists.
This recognition reflects the festival’s strong community partnerships and commitment to Aboriginal-led tourism, with 62% of festival suppliers being Indigenous-owned businesses.
Kakadu Park Manager, Kylie Lindner, said the recognition is a proud moment for everyone involved.
“Taste of Kakadu is more than a festival. It’s a celebration of who we are as a jointly managed national park and how we share our culture with visitors. Being recognised in the Brolgas acknowledges the spirit and culture of our community.”
Kakadu’s Tourism and Visitor Services Manager, Adrian Buman, said the festival plays an important role in deepening visitors’ connection to Country.
“Every experience at Taste of Kakadu helps visitors see, hear and feel Country through the stories and perspectives of Bininj/Mungguy. It’s an opportunity to experience culture in an authentic and respectful way, and to leave with a lasting connection of Kakadu’s living heritage.”
Congratulations to all who have contributed to the success of Karrimanjbekkan An-me Kakadu: Taste of Kakadu. We’re proud to stand alongside the Territory’s leading tourism experiences.
Winners will be announced at the 2025 Brolga Awards gala in Darwin on Saturday 8 November 2025.
Karrimanjbekkan An-me Kakadu: Taste of Kakadu will return to Kakadu National Park in May 2026. Stay tuned for more details at kakadu.gov.au/taste .
