Kubara road works
Kubara road works
Thursday 26 February 2026

Works to realign the first two kilometres of Kubara Road commenced in late 2025 and are progressing well.

Vegetation clearing along the new road alignment was completed in December, and construction has now moved into the formation stage of the new gravel road. Importantly, Kubara Road remains open to traffic and is fully accessible to the public while construction continues.

Traffic management measures are in place, along with erosion and sediment controls, to make sure works are carried out safely and in an environmentally responsible way.

The Kubara Road upgrade is part of a $70 million road upgrade program for Kakadu National Park, funded by the Australian Government and delivered by the Northern Territory Department of Logistics and Infrastructure.

Once complete, the upgrades will improve safety and amenity, improve and extend access to key park attractions, extend the tourist season, and support economic development across the region.

Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
