Maguk

Friday 14 November 2025

Maguk will close for the season from 4.30 pm this Monday 17 November.

This is due to persistent wet weather causing water to cover long sections of the road making it unsafe for vehicles to pass.

In addition, the rising water levels in Barramundi Creek mean crocodiles can move upstream to the area where people swim.

Mardukal Campground One has also closed for the season.

Rangers are monitoring rising water levels at Cahills Crossing as the water depth was measured at around half a metre at low tide this morning.

As a result, the crossing is currently classified as impassable.

Under an impassable restriction, motorists may still cross at their own risk, but should consider conditions can change rapidly and become extremely hazardous.

Inexperienced drivers should not attempt Cahills Crossing.

Visitor safety remains a high priority across Kakadu as the wet season approaches. Visit our safety webpage for information on how to stay safe during your visit.

Please check the Kakadu Access Report for the latest site closure updates.
