Motor Car Falls carpark closed from 26 May to 14 July
Kakadu’s visitor infrastructure is being upgraded and work is now underway to enhance the visitor experience, safety and amenities at Yurmikmik carparks and walking tracks.
As part of the upgrades to Yurmikmik, the Motor Car Falls carpark will be closed from Monday 26 May until Monday 14 July.
Motor Car Falls will remain open during these works, with access being provided via the Boulder Creek carpark and existing walking tracks.
The upgrades to Motor Car Falls carpark will include:
- improved carpark layout for safety and to allow for easier access by tour buses
- improved access road from Gimbat Road into the carpark
- improving drainage around the carpark site to ensure year-round access.
Following the reopening of Motor Car Falls carpark in July, the next stage of the project will require the closure of Boulder Creek carpark.
This is expected to be closed for approximately 2 months to allow for upgrades to the carpark, installation of a new toilet block and construction of two pedestrian bridges to allow for year-round access to the falls.
