Gimbat Road upgrade

Upgrades are planned for a 5km section of Gimbat Road to construct concrete floodways, gravel re-sheeting and widening and raising the approaches to the one lane bridge, which will improve safety, access and function. Wet season resilience is a key objective of this upgrade. 

Gimbat Road will remain open during construction works, using traffic management controls. 

The Northern Territory Department of Logistics and Infrastructure (DLI) is delivering a range of road upgrades across Kakadu National Park on behalf of Parks Australia during 2025-2027.
