Taste of Kakadu opening night rescheduled to Saturday 21 May
The Taste of Kakadu festival opening night celebrations at Bowali Visitor Centre have been rescheduled from Friday 20 May to Saturday 21 May. The decision has been made out of respect for the passing of a senior Mirrar Traditional Owner whose funeral will be held on Friday 20 May. Parks Australia extends its sympathies to the family of Ngal-Kankila Ngalmirama who passed away recently.
Parks Australia apologises for any disappointment this may cause for those visitors who were planning on attending the festival on Friday 20 May, and we sincerely hope that you are able to make it to the event on Saturday instead.
The Bowali Festival Hub will feature a bumper program of activities on Saturday 21 May including traditional painting workshops, Ankole (spear making) and weaving workshops.
From 5pm on Saturday 21 May, the Opening Night festivities commence at the Festival Hub including:
- Traditional dance performance by the Karrbarda (Long Yam Dance) Dancers
- Man Me Art Exhibition
- Fashion Show: Gunred, gunred garrijarrreh (many lands walking together)
- Bush tucker ground oven feast
- Darwin music star Mandy Garling
- Cabaret star Constantina Bush
