Phone & internet
Kakadu is a great place to get off your phone and into nature, but you can still keep in touch with loved ones and essential services!
The remote location of Kakadu means there’s far less digital access than in populated areas. This can leave you feeling a little cut off - but if you plan ahead, you can still stay connected.
Phones
There is now mobile coverage at more of Kakadu’s most iconic locations including:
- Jabiru
- Cooinda
- Bowali Visitor Centre
- Gunlom campground
- Gungurul
- Mary River Ranger Station
- Northern Information Bay (Arnhem Highway)
- Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) rock art site
- Maguk Campground (2km from Barramundi Gorge Waterfall).
Pay phones are available in front of the BP station and the shopping plaza in Jabiru, as well as at Bowali Visitor Centre, Cooinda Lodge and in front of Manbiyarra (Border Store).
Internet
You’ll find Wi-Fi and internet access at most hotels, or you can use the internet at the library in Jabiru. Mobile internet is also available at the locations listed above.
