The cafe at Manbiyarra (Border Store) is closed for the forseeable future. Anbinik Restaurant which is run by the same team is open daily and serving up its much loved favourites.

Kakadu is a wilderness area, but it still has the shops and services you might need while you’re away from home.

There are two main hubs (listed below) where you’ll find shops and facilities during your travels. You can also check out the options at Kakadu’s two visitor centres – Bowali Visitor Centre and Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre.

Jabiru

This is the central hub in Kakadu. It has hotels, caravan parks and campgrounds. Most hotels have a swimming pool and serve lunch and dinner, but you don’t have to be an in-house guest to dine there.

Jabiru also has:

  • service station
  • supermarket
  • newsagent
  • post office (Commonwealth Bank Agency)
  • Westpac Bank
  • travel agent (Kakadu Tours)
  • medical centre and chemist
  • police
  • public telephones
  • public swimming pool
  • library with internet access
  • golf course
  • restaurants
  • Marrawuddi Gallery.

Cooinda

Cooinda is in the centre of the park, in the Yellow Water region. Cooinda Lodge has rooms, caravan and camping sites, and offers a central hub for all visitors seeking an evening meal and entertainment.

The store there sells petrol, diesel, groceries and souvenirs, and takes bookings for commercial tours. It has a swimming pool which non-guests are welcome to use, and a playground for the children.

Manbiyarra (Border Store)

In addition to the four main hubs is Manbiyarra, located in the north of the park near Ubirr and the East Alligator River. The store is run by Injalak Arts and sells paintings on bark and paper, weavings and sculpture as well as hand-screen printed fabric lengths. The store operates between late May and October each year.

Injalak Arts – Arnhem Land

Arnhem Land is close by and Injalak Arts has a shop and gallery where locally produced authentic Aboriginal art can be viewed and purchased. Injalak Arts has around 200 active members – artists and weavers from Gunbalanya and surrounding outstations.
