Kunmadj – learn the art of weaving
Have you ever wondered how beautiful Top End Aboriginal natural fibre weavings are created?
In this session you will learn how to weave using 100% natural and locally sourced materials.
Join local Daluk (Aboriginal women) and learn the technique for weaving, as used to create baskets, bags, fans, mats, jewellery and more.
For cultural reasons the weaving workshop is for female participants only. Men are welcome to watch.
This is free a drop in session, no registration required.
The area around the site is flat and accessible to wheelchairs.
PLEASE NOTE: Whilst we endeavour to deliver a consistent and valuable seasonal program, there are some instances where cultural activities may be cancelled or re-scheduled due to circumstances outside of our control.
For the most up to date information on workshop availability please check in at the visitor centre prior to attending.
We also ask that you please treat all of our staff and rangers with kindness and respect. Some questions or curiosities may be insensitive to Bininj/ Mungguy people, please navigate this culturally rich landscape sensitively.
